JJ's Memorial Weekend

Published 15.07.2011

378.jpg Hello All, What a weekend that was. JJ's memorial fund has been over whelmed with support and donations regarding the weekend of June he 18th. All ran to plan and a great time was had by all. Throughout the day a total of over £4000 was raised by the kind people who donated there money. The JJMF would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who donated there time and effort for free on the day all for free, your hospitality and kindness means the world to us all and the soldiers you continue to support. We would also like to thank those who donated your money so generously in what we know as hard times. Too all the great acts on the day and to all who donated items for the auction we are most grateful. Highlights of the day were the flyover of the Dakota plane that flew over Southam twice as the regiment started the gruelling stretcher race. This was a moment that had everybody in awe, a moment where the town stood still and paid respect to JJ. Also the bush tucker trial, stomachs of steel where shown from both Shannaa Doherty and Kelly Burgess who put the boys to shame! As a special thankyou, to the 25 brave young people from Kineton High School who took inspiration from JJ and parachuted for charity in Tamdon at Hinton airfield on the 30th of June raising a staggering £1900. This included Shannaa Doherty and Kara Deakin. JJ's loving sister. And a close family friend who shows great support to the charity. There will be photos of the day uploaded very soon. Our ever lasting gratitude, The JJ's Memorial Fund

I am proud to announce that The British Airborne Forces Club members raised £1300 at our FANDANCE'11 event for the "DONT FORGET THE WOUNDED WEEKEND" this money will be pooled with the monies raised on the actual weekend. After a meeting on Sunday with local police, they have now informed us they can not escort motorcycles into the town. So we will be looking for traffic Marshals on the day to help us park the bikes and make the day run smoothly. We will also be needing a few first aiders. Any volunteers are hugely appreciated.
