The market tavern in Southam has kindly agreed to let motorcycles park in there car park on the day. The landlady is Diane and she will be raising money on the day as well with collection pots in the bar.

The event has been advertised in the local district advertiser aswell as on numerous forums and even in Backstreet Heroes custom motorcycle magazine.

JJ's memorial fund is ever gratefull for your continued support. Our paypal donation will soon be back up and running again.

We are all aware that 351 servicemen have been killed in Afghanistan, we do not know however the total amount of those that have been wounded, we do know that the figure will be well over the thousand mark & that is a very conservative figure.

Paratroopers are currently on tour & we have heard of some terrible injuries that they have suffered.

Two Airborne groups of members of clubs have decided to join forces to help those wounded & the families of those killed on the current tour.

The JJ's Memorial Trust Fund group & The British Airborne Forces Club in conjunction with two motorcycle clubs are organising & holding a motorcycle run from the Trafalgar public house in Aldershot to the Bull Inn Southam Warwickshire on the 18th of June 2011

The motorcycle groups consist of the Patriots Motorcycle Club (all ex sevicemen & women) and the Thames Valley Hogs (Harley Owners Group)

The timings from the start point & the finishing point are yet to be set in concrete, however provisional timings are leaving the Traf in the Shot at 1200hrs & arriving at the Bull in Southam at 1600hrs.

At 1700hrs C Coy 2 Para will be carrying out the annual "stretcher race" that they do in honour of JJ & all other "absent friends" around the Town of Southam.

Newspapers & all major TV stations will have been informed about this event & will hopefuly provide coverage & help to highlight the practical & financial plight of our wounded Airborne gladiators & of course all the wounded servicemen & woman of all 3 services in the service of their Country.

Funds that are raised will be shared equaly between all the families of those Paratroopers killed & the wounded that are on the current tour of Afghanistan, that is every last penny, there are no overheads to be taken out, so every penny rasied will go to exactly who we say it will.

If you wish to donate, please go onto www.thebritishairborneforcesclub.co.uk follow the link on the front page on "how to make a payment" then you have the choice of either paying by PAYPAL or giving your donation into a Halifax Building Society into the account details provided in that link, alternatively another link will be provided soon by the JJ Memorial Trust Fund website, PLEASE ENSURE YOU MARK YOUR PAYMENT FOR "THE DONT FORGET THE WOUNDED WEEKEND".

Please get this event out to all your friends on FB & lets make this a success, we are aiming at there being over 300 motorcycles on the run alone, if you can attend on the day in either Aldershot at the Traf to wave them off on their way or to be in Southam to greet them then all the better.

June the 18th News and Updates

Hi all,

Some news and announcement's.

I am proud to announce that The British Airborne Forces Club members raised £1300 at our FANDANCE'11 event for the "DONT FORGET THE WOUNDED WEEKEND" this money will be pooled with the monies raised on the actual weekend.

After a meeting on Sunday with local police, they have now informed us they can not escort motorcycles into the town. So we will be looking for traffic Marshals on the day to help us park the bikes and make the day run smoothly. We will also be needing a few first aiders. Any volunteers are hugely appreciated.

JJ's Memorial Weekend

Hello All,

What a weekend that was. JJ's memorial fund has been over whelmed with support and donations regarding the weekend of June he 18th. All ran to plan and a great time was had by all. Throughout the day a total of over £4000 was raised by the kind people who donated there money.

The JJMF would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who donated there time and effort for free on the day all for free, your hospitality and kindness means the world to us all and the soldiers you continue to support. We would also like to thank those who donated your money so generously in what we know as hard times. Too all the great acts on the day and to all who donated items for the auction we are most grateful.

Highlights of the day were the flyover of the Dakota plane that flew over Southam twice as the regiment started the gruelling stretcher race. This was a moment that had everybody in awe, a moment where the town stood still and paid respect to JJ. Also the bush tucker trial, stomachs of steel where shown from both Shannaa Doherty and Kelly Burgess who put the boys to shame!

As a special thankyou, to the 25 brave young people from Kineton High School who took inspiration from JJ and parachuted for charity in Tamdon at Hinton airfield on the 30th of June raising a staggering £1900. This included Shannaa Doherty and Kara Deakin. JJ's loving sister. And a close family friend who shows great support to the charity.

There will be photos of the day uploaded very soon.

Our ever lasting gratitude,

All servicemen and women will be able to take their families to the event throughout the 17-day show from the 11th – 27th March, 2011 at Earls Court, London.

Troops can once again attend the event on any day they wish, as well as supporting the official dedicated Troops Day on Saturday 12th March where the Ideal Home Show in partnership with ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, will present an exciting schedule of activity throughout the day as a tribute to our servicemen and women.

The 2010 event saw the 30 piece Royal Signals Band spectacularly opened the celebrations for the official Troops Day, accompanied by show ambassadors George Clarke, Suzy Perry, Linda Barker, Fiona Philips and Gregg Wallace who proudly opened the show with a fitting tribute to our troops.

Activities throughout the day included a traditional British Street Party, Military Band performances, a special performance by 13 year old singing sensation Olivia with her debut single ‘My Angel’s Friend’ as well as all the other attractions.

This year, show organisers in association with The ABF the Soldiers’ Charity will be offering a wide range of fun and exciting military themed activities for visitors to do throughout the event again for 2011, with a wide range of celebrity guests and our very own Ideal Home Show Ambassadors in attendance.

The Ideal Home Show Director, Lee Newton said: “The Ideal Home Show has always been a British institution going back to the First World War and has had strong, traditional connections with the Armed Forces and its servicemen and women, and we are delighted to be able to support Tickets for Troops in this way.”

A spokesperson for Tickets for Troops said: “We do not believe there is any better way to show our nation’s thanks and recognition for the work that our Armed Forces routinely do. We are thrilled that an event as famous and as prestigious as The Ideal Home Show has opened its doors in this way for the troops.”
